Once upon a time there was a terrible monster who rose out of the swamp…..
This week, Year 4 embarked on their English writing when they visited the great hall of Heorot deep in the forests of Denmark, where they met Utred, Son of Utred, our intrepid story teller who took us on an incredible adventure deep into Denmark and the land of the Geats. As we sat around the fire, we became transfixed by the story of Beowulf and the evil monster, Grendel. The children really enjoyed acting out the story being immersed in an Anglo-Saxon world of battles, monstrous deeds and feats of heroism.
