Our Early Years children had a wonderful trip to Bocketts Farm on Thursday this week! The children had the best time feeding sheep and goats, handling small animals like a chicken, guinea pig and rabbit, and even riding on a very bumpy tractor! We also saw horses, pigs, alpacas and cowsincluding some lovely Highland cows with enormous horns. Lots of the sheep were getting ready to have their lambs, with different coloured dots showing how many babies they were expecting... one sheep was going to have four! After lunch, we had lots of fun in the playground and loved cheering on the pig racewon by the very speedy Snoop Hog! The children were full of smiles all day and were a real credit to us all. #EarlyYears #SchoolTrip #LearningThroughPlay #FarmVisit #HappyChildren #OutdoorLearning

Last week, Year 2 had a very exciting visit from the Gatwick STEM Centre. We were thrilled because real engineers came to work with us! Before their visit, many of us thought Gatwick Airport was simply a place where planes take off and land. However, we learned that there are many other important jobs there too. Engineers help solve problems and work hard to look after the environment. One of our favourite activities was learning about water purification. We started with dirty water and worked together to try to clean it using different materials to filter it. We were amazed to see the water become clearer and it helped us understand how important clean water is and how fortunate we are to have access to it. We also made small electric cars using little motors and crocodile clips to connect the wires. We then used solar energy to power the batteries. When the propellers started spinning, we felt very proud because we had made them work using simple materials like cardboard and tape! We discovered that engineers do lots of clever and important things. It was a fantastic day that made many of us think about becoming engineers when we grow up. A big thank you to the engineers from the Gatwick STEM Centre for teaching us so many amazing things! #STEM #FutureEngineers #PrimarySchoolLearning #HandsOnLearning #InspiringYoungMinds
